Start With the Basics
Check the scooter's overall condition, paint consistency, and panel alignment. Look at the floorboard and front area for signs of a heavy fall, and confirm the VIN and engine number match the RC book before going any further.
Test the Engine and CVT
A cold start should be instant and smooth. Listen for rattling from the variator and belt, and check that acceleration is linear without hesitation. A worn belt or clogged CVT is a common and expensive fix, so test it carefully.
Brakes and Suspension
Both front and rear brakes should bite progressively with no grabbing or squealing. Press down on the suspension to check for rebound, and inspect the fork seals for oil leaks. Worn suspension affects both comfort and handling.
Electrics and Instruments
Test the headlight, indicators, horn, and instrument cluster. A weak battery or faulty charging system is easy to miss, so start the scooter with the headlights on and watch for dimming, which suggests a charging problem.
